Nicola was born and brought up in the south of England and has lived and worked in various parts of Britain. She moved to the Highlands of Scotland with her young family in 1994, and set up a relocation agency, Highland Dreams, through which she helped many people from around the world to do the same. While in Scotland she helped to set up a weddings agency, enticing couples worldwide to come to Scotland to marry in its beautiful and historic surroundings, and has worked at many of these weddings in a variety of roles.
